Each year, billions of dollars in life insurance assets are thrown away by seniors. LifePoint funds the premiums on policies, to allow the proceeds to fund the donor's charitable legacy upon his/her passing.

“It is one of the paradoxes of Christianity that the only things that are really our own when we die are what we give away in His Name. What we leave in our wills is snatched from us by death; but what we give away is recorded by God to our eternal credit.” -- Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

Choose Your Charitable Legacy

LifePoint Charitable Endowment will direct the proceeds of your policy to the Catholic charitable fund of your choice. Each fund is designed to meet the physical, medical and spiritual needs of the Catholic Church, its Dioceses, Parishes, Schools, Institutions and Agencies. LifePoint has formed four separate and distinct funds into which your donation can be directed to deliver a predictable source of revenue for charities that meet the criteria of that fund for decades to come. Each charitable fund has its own advisory board and is centrally managed by LifePoint to minimize overhead and maximize distributions to participating charities.

The LifePoint sector funds include:

Humanitarian: Charities in the Humanitarian sector provide relief to the poor, needy and hurting people of the world. (Hunger - Crisis Aid - Children - Poverty - Medical Care)

Health Sciences: Charities in the Health Science and Services sector provide compassionate healthcare and improved quality of life for the sick, and support the search for cures through medical research. (Cancer Centers - Hospitals - Medical Research - Disease Management)

Missionary work: Athletics - Discipleship - Pastoral Services - Campus Outreach - Seminaries - Churches

Education: Universities, private colleges and Catholic schools, and other educational organizations can benefit from the support of alumni, members, and others who share a commitment to quality education at all levels. (Grants & Scholarships - Research - Athletics)

The Benefits of Donating Your Policy

There are two opportunities to donate to LifePoint:

  • Cash Donations seed the endowment to pay premiums and operational expenses.
  • Life Insurance Policy Donations contributed to LifePoint are pooled for charities designated by donors. Most charities do not accept outright gifts of life insurance for several reasons:

When a donor donates a policy and designates a charity to benefit from the proceeds, the designated charity receives a percentage interest in the policy pool. Each charity's percentage interest is equal to their percentage share of the total life insurance benefits of the policy pool.

Now It Is Easy to Donate Regardless of Your Current Cash Flow

That's right. Once you have donated your policy to LifePoint, we pool the policies which allows your chosen charity to exchange its interest in specific policies for a percentage interest in the entire pool. Policy pooling allows:

  • each charity to receive a percentage of every death benefit from within the pool, not just their designated policies.
  • earlier and more predictable distributions to all charities.
  • death benefits within the pool to become actuarially predictable due to the "law of large numbers".
  • charity to budget using forecasted distributions.

Distributions to our charity partners are made according to individual percentage interest in the total donated life insurance policy pool.
